Description

RLink is Raisonance's versatile, very low cost, high-performance in-circuit debugger and programmer for STR7, µPSD (8051) and ST7. RLink, driven by Raisonance's Intergrated Environement (RIDE), has been designed to connect to the user application board via the USB port allowing In-Circuit Programming and In-Circuit Debugging thanks to the serial protocol included in the used microcontroller.
Up to now, the JTAG and ICC (from ST) protocols are supported.

RLink supports both JTAG and ICC protocols and connects to your application board via one of three adapters:

  • 20-pin JTAG ARM adapter for STR7 microcontrollers
  • 14-pin JTAG µPSD adapter for µPSD microcontrollers
  • 10-pin ICC-ST7 adapter for ST7 microcontrollers

Characteristics

  • Dynamically programmable: possible addition of new protocols without changing the hardware nor the firmware but only the software
  • Up to 8 Mbit/s, from 3V to 5V
  • Based on ST7651AR6 (USB1.1)
  • Flexible software architecture: already supports µPSD, ST7 and STR7
  • No power supply needed. RLink is powered through the USB connection
  • Cost effective solution

Use

RLink can be driven not only by RIDE (Raisonance IDE), but also by other tools such as RFlasher, some inline programming applications and ST tools (PSDSoft and CAPS for µPSD, STVD7 and STVP7 for ST7).
This is done with no limitation and with no need of Serial Number, as serialization is ensured by RLink itself.

Versions

2 box versions are available:

  • RLink standard (RLink-std) allowing:
    • µPSD debugging and programming
    • ST7 debugging and programming
    • STR7 only programming, no debugging available
  • RLink Professional (RLink-Pro) allowing unlimited:
    • µPSD debugging and programming
    • ST7 debugging and programming
    • STR7 debugging and programming

Other versions of RLink are available delivered with the REva board as part of different starter-kits. In that case RLink is attached to the REva mother board and can be detached in order to work as an RLink standard (RLink-std) if used with software version BN7.43 or better.

Software

The CD includes:

  • RIDE (Raisonance Integrated Development Environment) drives RLink and integrates the different software tools
  • ST7 software tools (Assembler, Linker, Simulator/Debugger and supports 3rd party C Compilers)
  • 8051 (µPSD) demo tools (C Compiler, Assembler, Linker, Simulator/Debugger) limited to 4kB
  • STR7 software tools (GNU C Compiler, GNU assembler, GNU Linker and Raisonance Simulator/Debugger)
  • RFlasher: stand-alone programming tool that drives RLink for ST7 and STR7 microcontrollers.

Contents

  • RLink Debugger/Programmer
  • 3 adapters: ICC-ST7 (ST7), JTAG µPSD (µPSD), JTAG ARM (STR7)
  • USB cable
  • CD including software tools for the ST7, 8051(µPSD) and STR7 families. See below

Note that the contents between the two box versions (RLink-std and RLink-Pro) is the same. The difference concerns only the limitation (or non-limitation) of RLink for the use with ARM microcontrollers.
